2024 Legendary Mock Draft
I took over the Bengals Job and decided to make a mock! In no way shape or form do I think this will happen, this is what I feel may happen based on team needs and looking at the strength of each roster. Maybe I will get some right!
1 ATL: QB Caleb Williams CHI
Atlanta has been missing and craving the next franchise quarterback for a while. They have had a very successful offseason, trading for Patrick Queen, locking up James Cook, and signing key free agents such as Joey Bosa and others. Looking at the roster, QB and WR are needs. All signs point to Atlanta using the first pick on a quarterback. There are reports hearing Atlanta loves Daniels and Williams, but ultimately, Williams’ supporting cast and high ceiling put him over Daniels.
2 SF: WR Marvin Harrison Jr WR ARI
While the allure of selecting Jayden Daniels is here for the taking and could give San Fran a nice QB combo with Levis, passing up Harrison Jr, who is clearly the best prospect in this year’s class just doesn't make sense. Going with team need and best choice, Harrison Jr fits the bill and gives San Fran a franchise caliber wideout to build around.
3 CHI: QB Jayden Daniels WSH
Hearing reports that the Bears value Harrison Jr so highly, they might have passed on a QB to pick him. Instead, Harrison Jr goes the pick before and Chicago instead elects to draft their franchise quarterback. Now Chicago could go Nabers, but with a chance to grab one of the top 2 qbs in this position, Daniels makes more sense imo. Not a bad backup as Daniels is clearly the 1A of the QB class and with his rushing ability, can quickly become a top 12 option this year and top 10 or higher in the future.
4 LAC: WR Malik Nabers NYG
This is clearly a best player available spot, and I think the Chargers are happy Nabers falls here. They need a WR1 and Nabers can make an impact Year 1 for them and the Giants. Nabers has elite WR1 upside so this pick is a no brainer.
5 GB: RB Jonathon Brooks CAR
Looking at the roster and team need, Packers could do the obvious and pick Odunze, but there isn’t necessarily a glaring need for them at WR. Instead, I have them picking the best RB in the class in Brooks. His talent and opportunity to be the lead back out of the gate once healthy is the better pick for the outlook of the franchise.
6 CAR: WR Rome Odunze CHI
Carolina has multiple picks in this draft, and back to back picks here, so with this pick, they grab the best player available which is Odunze. Probably one of the safest picks this year, Odunze goes into a nice situation in Chicago where he will learn from Keenan Allen and DJ Moore. Odunze will be a flex starter year one, but with Allen a free agent after this season, Odunze can elevate to WR1/WR2 status in 2025. They can wait as the team continues to rebuild.
7 CAR: QB Drake Maye NE
Back on the clock, Carolina picks Maye here. I like McCarthy’s situation better, but with reports saying McCarthy may not start week one, Carolina may opt to pick Maye instead. Situation wise, it is not the best, but did we think Stroud was gonna be who he was year one in Houston? No and New England did draft some wrs to help out Maye. I do think Maye is the better talent and has the higher ceiling plus has more of a proven track record of qb play than McCarthy, so this choice is just fine and gives Carolina a franchise QB.
8 NO: QB JJ McCarthy MIN
Saints grab the next best QB available and select McCarthy. Situation is strong in Minny with ideal fit for the offense. It also doesn’t hurt to have Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison in the offense so that helps. Many have JJ ranked in front of Maye, but since Maye is off the board at this point, McCarthy is the pick and gives New Orleans a franchise QB.
9 IND: WR Xavier Worthy KC
Indy has the quarterback spot set for now and will forgo picking Bo Nix here. Looking at what the team needs are and the best player available, I think Worthy is the pick. Great situation here for Worthy as his QB is Mahomes and could be the next Tyreek Hill in that system. Plus with Rice’s legal troubles, Worthy can take advantage and become the WR1 in KC sooner rather than later.
10 BAL: Brock Bowers TE LV
Looking at Baltimore, they seem solid at RB, WR, and QB. I’m gonna have the best player available and best TE in the class land here. Bowers has a chance to be the next top option at TE and having him and Pitts as your top TE options may be very enticing for Baltimore to try.
11 LV: WR Brian Thomas Jr JAX
With a roster loaded with talent across the board, Raiders can go in a number of directions. I like the idea of the Raiders adding depth to the WR position as they continue their dominance in Legendary. Thomas lands in a good situation where he is one of the top options for T-Law to throw to and will be a nice red zone threat for them. Thomas has the chance to flirt with double digits tds this season and gives the Raiders another playmaker to use.
12 LAR: RB Trey Benson ARI
Rams are set at TE and WR, and while they may need a QB, I seem to think they value positional players more. Benson lands in Arizona where he is competing with Connor for touches. With Connor’s injury history and him becoming a free agent after this season, Benson can take the job and not look back. This pick could be a steal having a future top 12 RB option at this point in the draft.
13 PIT: QB Bo Nix DEN
Pittsburgh having signed Russ for one year is their plan at QB for 2024. Beyond that, there are not many options to choose from currently. Nix slides down here and the Steelers take advantage. Nix will start for the Broncos day one and gives Pitt a nice contingency plan beyond Russ.
14 CHI: WR Ladd McConkey LAC
Chicago is back on the clock here and the next need for them imo is at WR. I think the Bears pick McConkey here and potentially get a steal at this pick. McConkey enters as the presumed WR1 for LA and Herbert is his QB. Reminds me of Julian Edelman as he will be getting lots of targets in that offense.
15 WSH: LB Junior Colson LAC
Washington has had a very nice offseason so far and looking at the roster, they’re in very good shape to compete this year. I try not to have defensive players taken early, but looking at how the board is shaken out and how valued LBs are in this league, I think Washington picks the LB that lands in the best situation and has a chance to be the best one out of this class. He teams up with Harbaugh again in LA and will be used as his field general on the defensive side.
16 CAR: WR Keon Coleman BUF
Carolina is back on the clock and I think they add more talent to the roster by picking Coleman here. Coleman lands in a great situation in Buffalo and immediately becomes Allen’s WR1. Carolina is looking good here so far in the draft by having Odunze, Maye, and now Coleman on the roster. I’m scared to be in the same division 😣
17 PIT: WR Xavier Legette CAR
Pittsburgh is on the clock and has back to back picks here. I feel like one of these picks may be traded, but no trades in this mock so I have them picking the best player available and picking Legette. I chose him due to his situation. He can be Young’s WR1 since Thielan is getting up in age and Mingo hasn’t taken over the offense quite yet. This is just a luxury pick for Pittsburgh.
18 PIT: DE Dallas Turner MIN
Pittsburgh again can go in a number of directions. Honestly, they can afford to bypass an offensive player here and select a rusher at this spot. Turner is one of the top options in the class at the defensive side and can win droty. Lands in a great spot and has a chance to produce early for Minny.
19 MIN: RB Jaylen Wright MIA
Minnesota’s roster can use a RB and with looking at the spot, I think Wright is the next best option at the position. Lands in Miami where he will be in a committee behind Mostert and Achane. Knowing how McDaniel runs his offense, he will find some use for Wright and with Mostert’s age and Achane’s health a question mark, Wright could find himself being useful for Miami and Minnesota.
20 NYJ: RB Marshawn Lloyd GB
I’m gonna give Ant a RB here bc well Marlon Mack doesn’t scream superstar. Lloyd enters an interesting situation in Green Bay. He’s going to be the backup behind Jacobs, but the Packers could opt to get out of Jacobs’ contract in 2025 should there be a decline in his production. That would position Lloyd as the top option and I think Ant takes that chance.
21 NO: WR Adonai Mitchell IND
Getting another WR should be a top priority for New Orleans and a nice choice is available at this spot. Mitchell will be behind Pittman on the depth chart and is filled with talent. I can see Pittman and Mitchell thrive in the Indy offense and I’m sure the Saints will welcome any addition to that WR room.
22 PHI: LB Edgerrin Cooper GB
Again here I am picking a defensive player in an offense loaded draft class, but looking at needs, I can see the Eagles beefing up the LB depth with this pick. Cooper will get immediate playing time and since LB is a lucrative position to have in Legendary, this doesn’t seem as outrageous as others may think.
23 BAL: WR Ja’Lynn Polk NE
Having picked Bowers earlier, I think Baltimore adds to their WR depth and selects Polk. Polk has one of the best situations left so far out of the WRs selected and will compete in New England as a top option for Maye. Given who they have at WR, Polk could become the future WR1 there.
24 SF: WR Jermaine Burton CIN
San Fran needs more WRs and I have them double dipping here and picking Burton. Burton may be behind Chase and Higgins right now, but with Higgins uncertain future, Burton can become Cincy’s WR2 if and when Higgins moves on.
25 LAC: RB Blake Corum LAR
Chargers will add playmakers in this draft and Corum is a good player at this spot. Landing in LA, he will back up Kyren Williams, but if Williams gets hurt, Corrum will handle leading back duties. Probably will be one of the best handcuffs in the league in the future, LA gets a steal at this spot. McVay will use Corrum and being in a good offense doesn’t hurt. Could see him getting goal line touches.
26 MIA: WR Picky Pearsall SF
Had trouble placing Pearsall in this mock, but knowing Frank and how patient he is, I think he will take the chance and pick him here. Right now, the situation is murky being behind Deebo, Aiyuk, Kittle, CMC, etc. If Aiyuk or Deebo were to depart, then Pearsall becomes fantasy relevant right away. Shanahan will figure out how to use Pearsall so I have no worries for his future outlook. Now I can be wrong here and Frank trades this pick before the draft seeing how he loves to trade LMAO.
27 GB: WR Roman Wilson PITT
At this point, Green Bay can go best player available and pick Wilson here. Wilson lands in a good spot in Pitt as he will be behind Pickens in the depth chart. Knowing how Pitt develops WRs like a factory, Wilson has the potential to be the next great Steeler WR.
28 BUF: WR Malachi Corley NYJ
Buffalo adds depth here and picks Corley as the next best player available. He has the chance to be the WR2 behind Garrett Wilson. Outside of Wilson and Hall, not much is standing in his way to being fantasy relevant.
29 MIN: WR Troy Franklin DEN
Minny back on the clock and I think they go WR here. Franklin lands in Denver and could be the team’s WR2 behind Sutton. It doesn’t hurt that he and Bo Nix were teammates at Oregon so there's chemistry already.
30 HOU: RB Tyrone Tracy Jr NYG
I honestly think this is a great pick for Shon at this point of the draft. Another potential steal here, Tracy has a chance to make an impact in New York. Singletary is the starter, but Tracy is shifty and can be used as a solid PPR option. This can be like when NO used Kamara and Willliams with Williams getting the grunt work on the ground and Kamara mixing it up with some carries and the majority of the catches.
31 IND: TE Ja'Tavion Sanders CAR
Indy with back to back picks here and I think Sanders makes sense at this spot. Carolina needs playmakers and Sanders has an immediate opportunity to become Young’s safety blanket.
32 IND: LB Payton Wilson PITT
Indy gets a boost in the LB room with the selection of Wilson here. Landing in a great situation, Wilson teams up with Queen and Watt to anchor the Pitt D.
I took over the Bengals Job and decided to make a mock! In no way shape or form do I think this will happen, this is what I feel may happen based on team needs and looking at the strength of each roster. Maybe I will get some right!
