As the season has come and gone, The Atlanta Falcons end up towards the bottom half of the league. This was unfortunate for the fanbase and first year general manager Ryan. He knew that the franchise needed lots of work and improvement and from day one, it was going to be a challenge for these fans and Ryan. Going into the season, he cleaned house from acquiring draft capital, dumping salaries, and deposing anything that had worth. While it was a tough pill to swallow and how the team ended the season (2-11), this franchise now has so much to look forward to in the future. For starters, the Falcons had a great draft this year. With 9 draft picks to work with, GM Ryan made the best of where he picked. Arguably one of the best first rounds from this years draft, he selected RB De'von Achane and TE Sam LaPorta. Both were immediate contributors and flashed potential. Achane, who was viewed as a potential sleeper from this past draft, showed his speed and elusiveness on the field. Achane did it all and was a homerun threat out of the backfield for the Falcons. While it didn't result in a pro bowl appearance or top 10 finish in stats, Achane proved to the Falcons that he was gonna be a very exciting back for them in the future. He finished with 800 yards having only 103 carries , which averages to almost 8 yards per carry. He is expected to be the lead back next year for the falcons and will form a nice 1-2 punch with cook also in the backfield. LaPorta on the other hand was a different story. While its rare that tight ends have a top 3 fantasy season off the bat let alone a rookie tight end, LaPorta proved just that. Having over 80 catches, 800 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns, LaPorta was a force to be reckoned with. LaPorta finished first in tight end scoring this season, in front of old Falcons tight end Travis Kelce, whom GM Ryan dealt away for a first rounder this year. Tank Dell was another solid piece that GM Ryan picked in the second round of the draft. While he didn't have the success like his first round teammates, Dell still had a nice rookie showing. At points, he looked like a WR1/WR2 and other times they're were growing pains. No doubt about it that this rookie has massive potential for the future, but for right now he has to prove he can stay healthy to reach it. This coming offseason will be crucial for the franchise. Having over $100 million in cap space and 9 draft picks (which includes 3 first rounders), GM Ryan has his work cut out for him. He has many holes to fill for the team, which includes solving the white elephant in the room (The QB situation). The Falcons will need to decide what to do at that position and they sorely need a franchise guy to build around. Whether that player comes during free agency or the draft, GM Ryan is prepared to do whatever it takes to finding a long term solution at the position. Fans have been blowing up social media saying that they should make a run at Caleb Williams. Such a move would be costly for the franchise, and having traded away their first in 2025, it could be a tough hill to climb to jump up the board and take him. Regardless, the team is destined for a rebound and aims to be competitive in 2024!
