Hello GM’s Head Coach free agency starts March 1st. I thought of a potential issue so I wanted to get it up here to vote on before it opens.
Our current system is you can sign a coach to a multi year deal and if he gets replaced you get the new coach added at the same contract. My concern is we are basically doing like “team” coaches. You sign the coach for that team to a 4 year deal basically whatever coach is there you get them during that contract.
The issue is there’s no real consequence to signing a coach, you never have to cut him because you just get his replacement.
I’m proposing three options please vote for the one you like most.
Option A: Coaches can only be signed to 1 year contract, but if your coach gets replaced during the season then you automatically get the interim coach added for the rest of the year at the contract of previous coach. (Basically just the rule from last season)
Option B: You can sign a coach to a multi year contract but if he is terminated you are not automatically given the replacement coach. Any team can bid on any coach. The replacement coach would get his on contract and you can then waive the old coach at the waiver penalty amount (40%)
Option C: Leave it the way it is. You can sign a coach to a multi year contract and if he is replaced you just get the replacement it’s essentially just bidding on team coaches. You will always have the active coach for the duration of the contract.
Please vote for which option is best. Thanks, Blaine

Then I see no problem with team coaches The only issue I see is if we allow multi year contracts, we won’t have a FA period until the 4 year contract expires. Nobody will ever cut a coach since there is no consequence because if the coach gets fired you just get the replacement. It’s a flaw in my opinion. If we stick to 1 year deals then it keeps things interesting on the coaching front

Agree with many of the posts on GroupMe, HC scoring should be a priority before HC contracts. Though this vote tends be leaning towards elimination altogether.

Maybe if we get some kind of home town discount, might work. I'd certainly want Matt Rhule back

Hello all, I have decided to eliminate the coach position for now based on this vote.
