Veto 0-1
I realize the Dolphins have two starting QBs, but I just can't see the value here in this deal. A two year out 3rd round pick as best piece in return doesn't add up to me for a starting QB in Flacco who's job this season doesn't appear to be at risk. This trade might make sense to me if Big Ben was under contract past 2019. Given he's on an expiring deal, a 2021 3rd as premier piece in return just doesn't balance out.

Just as as point of reference which I should have included in my initial post, Rothlisberger will be franchised by my organization next year, which should give some added balance on this deal.

Changing my vote to accept then. But gonna hold ya on it in off-season, as it influenced my vote.

What are we going to do if he doesn't tag him next year? Nothing. He could drop Big Ben in season and take the cap hit for 2019 only rather than FT him for 30+ Million next year with Kylar Murray on his roster. Big Ben has a better chance of retiring at the end of this season than ever before. I'd be totally shocked if Frank tagged Rothlisberger next season or much less kept him on the roster the rest of this season.
The trade boils down to a cap dump of Flacco's salary (which ends after the 2021 season) in exchange for a 3rd and 4th round pick in 2021. In the end, the Dolphins will gain a ton of cap space and a couple of picks 2 years out and the Texans get a QB fill in for this season and possibly longer.
Approve 2-0.

Changing my vote to accept then. But gonna hold ya on it in off-season, as it influenced my vote. Approve 1-0 Admittedly, if rumors of retirement start in the spring, that could affect my franchise tag decision. But as of now, from what Im hearing, Big Ben should be coming back. If Big Ben does retire then the Texans get a good deal, and under that context your veto was very appropriate. The hard part here is the unknown, and Im banking that Big Ben comes back, and that mystery makes this trade value a little tough to gauge either way. If Big Ben does come back, then I believe I get solid value here. And if we get a confirmation that Big Ben is coming back next year, he will be franchised, as QB's in these leagues have great value even at FT prices.
Thank you for your reconsideration.
